General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Technical Support Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to perform technical activities that impact the design and manufacturing of advanced electronic systems. Key Responsibilities
Senior Technical Support Engineers perform technical activities which impact the proposal, system-level design, detail design and manufacturing of advanced electronics systems. This position will be writing 4E specifications in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual. This position requires technical aptitude in mechanical and electrical systems with the ability to understand and interpret technical drawings.
Write step by step instructions to troubleshoot or repair servers, switches, antennas, communications equipment, seaframe control hardware, fiber, software. The troubleshooting may be conducted over the phone if need be. Provide technical training manuals for field engineering
Additional Responsibilities
Writing training documentation to improve waterfront troubleshooting capabilities
Writing field change orders to support equipment updates
Support remote troubleshooting of LCS equipment
Occasional travel (5-10%) expected for this position

Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs.
Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDAIS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDAISs services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of advanced electronics systems, and the ability to further advance and support GDAIS network technology.
The Senior Technical Support Engineer position requires a bachelors degree in a related specialized area or the equivalent, and two to five years of related experience; or a masters degree with zero to two years of related experience.
Department of Defense secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Candidates have experience with the configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of antennas, servers, and communications equipment.
Experience performing Windows 2000/2003/2008 server physical to virtual migrations. VMware/ESXi experience preferred
Experience working with multi-disciplined teams to meet stringent requirements and deadlines
Awareness of earned value metrics as well as creating basic plans
An understanding of the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and its contents
